EIGHT former professionals are expected to be on show when Chard Town hold a special tournament at Zembard Lane on Sunday, July 13.

The event, which is being organised by the club’s commercial manager, Adam Tovey, will feature four teams picked by first team manager Adam Fricker, assistant manager Jason Behan, reserve team manager Stuart Parris and first team player Jamie Barfoot.

Each manager will select a squad of 14 which must include two former professionals, two Over-35s, two Under-18s, one overseas player and one non-footballer.

Tovey said: “The event is creating a lot of interest and a superb day of football is likely to bring some ex-professionals from Yeovil Town and host of returning ex-Chard Town favourites.

“There is going to be food and drink served all day, and the club are also showing the World Cup Final in the clubhouse at 8.30pm.”

The first game will be held at 1pm, the second at 2.30pm and the final at 5.30pm. Entrance is £2.
