SOMERSET will be hoping to bounce back after a below-par opening match as they travel to face Lancashire at Old Trafford for a four-day County Championship fixture beginning tomorrow (Friday).
Josh Davey is the sole addition to an otherwise unchanged Somerset squad having impressed in pre-season, while the hosts have England duo Jimmy Anderson and Haseeb Hameed available for selection.
Lancashire have drawn each of their opening two matches, the most recent of which was last weekend against Surrey at The Oval in a game which saw both Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Jordan Clark score centuries.
In contrast, no Somerset player reached 50 in either innings of the eight-wicket defeat to Essex in last weekend's match at Taunton, so captain Tom Abell will be looking to replicate last year's fine knock of 135 in the corresponding fixture at Old Trafford.
Peter Trego also scored a century on that occasion in a match which ended drawn.
Squads:
Lancashire - Liam Livingstone (c), James Anderson, Tom Bailey, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Jordan Clark, Alex Davies, Haseeb Hameed, Kyle Jarvis, Simon Kerrigan, Ryan McLaren, Stephen Parry, Luke Procter, Rob Jones, Dane Vilas.
Somerset - Marcus Trescothick, Dean Elgar, Tom Abell (c), James Hildreth, Steve Davies (wk), Pete Trego, Lewis Gregory, Roelof van der Merwe, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Jack Leach, Tim Groenewald and Josh Davey.
