SOMERSET skipper Chris Rogers hopes his side can continue the winning feeling as they gear up for their County Championship clash with Hampshire at the Cooper Associates County Ground, which gets under way tomorrow (Tuesday).

The county have been buoyed by their success in one-day cricket while come into this game on the back of their astonishing win over Durham in their last Championship outing.

“The boys have been successful in the 50-over competition so some of that momentum will carry on into the game against Hampshire tomorrow," said Rogers.

“Our last win over Durham saw us go back up there among the leaders and, if we can get another in the match with Hampshire, we will be right up there again.

“We are playing good fighting cricket at the moment, so we need to carry on with that especially with Hampshire winning their last game because they will be on a bit of a roll as well.”

Marcus Trescothick, meanwhile, needs another 58 runs to pass 1000 championship runs for this season while requires just one more 100 to become the leading first-class century maker for the county.

Ahead of Hampshire's visit, he said: “This is obviously another important week for us.

"We have had a good time with the one-day stuff and now its time for us to get back into championship action and re-focus on that competition.

“Things shuffle around pretty quickly in the table and you win a game and find yourself up into second place, but then you have a week off and you are back down to the middle of the table pretty quickly."

Squad: Marcus Trescothick, Tom Abell, Chris Rogers (capt), James Hildreth, Jim Allenby, Pete Trego, Lewis Gregory, Roloef van der Merwe, Craig Overton, Ryan Davies (w/k), Jack Leach & Tim Groenewald.
