SOMERSET Women’s cricket team go into the final Division Two Championship with all to play for after chalking up their fourth successive victory of the season when they beat Cheshire at Cheadle at the weekend.

That victory makes it five wins out of seven games and puts Somerset into joint second place in the table.

And if they can now beat Ireland in their final 50 match at Brislington tomorrow (10.30am) they will qualify for the play-offs, with the prize being a place in Division One.

Caroline Foster, the Somerset Women’s and Girls coach said: “Four wins in a row has given us good momentum and the team is playing some good cricket to get to where they are.

“We will go to the play off against the next from bottom team in Division One if we can finish second in our table.

“As long as we take as many points out of our game as Devon do then we will stay in second place and reach the play offs, like we did last year.

“Our match is against Ireland and they have just beaten Devon so they will be a strong team so we will have to work hard to get as many bonus points as we can.

“However it is very interesting the way that things have worked out going into the last game because now they have beaten Devon, the Irish team is also in with a slight chance as well.”
