THE eyes of all local cricket fans will be on the County Ground in Taunton this evening when Chard take on arch-rivals Ilminster in the final of the Baker Cup.

Both teams are looking forward to the eagerly-awaited clash of the neighbouring towns - the first time they will face each other in the final of the county-wide cricket 20-over knockout competition.

The action starts at 6pm and entry is free.

An intriguing game is in prospect with Ilminster probably starting the match as narrow favourites given their Premier One status in comparison to Chard's Premier Two standing in the West of England Premier League.

But it has been said before and we will say it again - anything can happen in cricket and so it really is anyone's game.

A large crowd is expected to converge on the County Ground for the showdown and a big bonus for supporters - and players - is that the weather looks as if it is going to be perfect.
