ILMINSTER 2nds maintained their good start to the season in the WEPL Premier Two 2nd XI competition with a great six-wicket success over Chippenham 2nds.
Chippenham won the toss and decided to bat and it soon looked like a poor decision with the opening three batsmen all failing to make it to double figures.
R. Merryweather chipped-in with 21, while the middle order of Will Couzens (39) and Dave Hicks (37no) added some respectability to the final total of 172 all out.
The wickets were shared about the Ilminster attack with Liam Gray, Luke Paul and Josh House all claiming three apiece.
In reply, Ilminster always looked on course for their third win of the summer.
They were given a good start by openers C. Warry (35) and S. Ash (67) and although they lost four wickets, it was A. Sims and Ben Carter who saw them home with undefeated knocks of 19 and 18 respectively.
The Ilminster 2nds travel to Downend on Saturday (June 4) hoping to continue their good start to the season.
