CHARD captain Jon Dalwood produced another all-round performance to help his side to a 98-run win over Uphill Castle on Saturday in the WEPL Bristol and Somerset Division.

Dalwood’s team were put into bat at Uphill and openers Robert Glentworth (39) and Paul Rideout (52) got them off to a steady start.

Number three Pete Moxom and next-in Emlyn Kuhn both went cheaply, but Dalwood played an important innings of 36 to help his team close on 210-8. Luke Bliss was the pick of the Uphill bowlers with 6-46.

In reply, Scott Todd pounced early for Chard by claiming the wicket of opener Steve Cooke for a single.

Wickets fell at regular intervals as Chippenham, apart from opener Andre Belcher (31), failed to get going.

And they were dismissed for 112 in the 42nd over – 98 runs behind Chard.

Dalwood helped to mop up the tail with a devastating spell of bowling which saw him claim four wickets at the expense of just five runs, while nine of his 13 overs were maidens. Pete Moxom also took four wickets for Chard.

Chard are currently fourth in the table and travel to face sixth-placed Clevedon on Saturday.
