IT was another good week for Donyatt, with more wins than losses.

The first win was by the rink that had an invite to play in the Severalls Jubilee Triples competition on Wednesday.

The Donyatt trio won four of their five games and had a very good shot difference over their nearest rivals, South Petherton. The side got off to a very good start on the first of the five games, scoring eleven shots to no reply before picking up another four with no reply. The Donyatt team was Doris Finch, Alf Soane and Colin Littlechild.

On Thursday the side took on Axminster in a three rink friendly triples match. Donyatt coped easily with Axminster’s artificial green and won two rinks out of the three and by ten shots overall becoming only the second club to win there this season.

Scores: T. Simpson, Den Finch, Doris Finch 23-10. M. Mason, E. Irish, B. Dibble 12-27. D. Soane, K. Hawker, A. Soane 19-8.

Two more games took place the same evening. The Ladies continued their quest in the County Triples Competition, this time playing away to Taunton Deane Ladies. This turned out to be another very close encounter with Donyatt missing out by one shot on the night. They went into the last end two shots down and the Donyatt lead picked up those two shots. The rest of the team were unable to hold onto them. The team was Pauline Wiseman, Betty Marner and Anne Rowe.

Also on the same evening the men played Taunton Deane in the County Triples League at Donyatt and won two rinks out of the three. They also held a much better shot difference to take ten points.

Saturday saw the men play a three rink league match at Wellington. Donyatt came away winning overall after losing on two rinks but winning on the other one and having the better shot difference, gaining eight points to Wellington’s four.
