ILMINSTER ladies enjoyed a comprehensive win in the national Over-50s triples, beating St Andrews of Weston-super-Mare 23-5.
The team was made up of Heather Grinter, Angie Thompson and Maureen Mitchell.
The Ilminster pair of G Morris and Ken Parker held their nerve to win with the score at 21 shots each after 21 ends to win with a six on the extra end at St Andrews in the national Over-60s pairs.
They now play Minehead in the next round.
On Sunday an Ilminster mixed pair of Heather Grinter and Steve Turner played in the national pairs against S Graham and P Denslow with Ilminster coming out on top 22-8.
Ilminster’s men didn’t fare so well in the Denny Cup, losing 77-56 against Dorchester on Saturday.
