BOTH Chard teams lost heavily in the East Devon league.

Chard A were beaten 8-0 at Ottery St Mary, losing 97-36 on shots.

Chard B fared better but still lost 5-3 at Musbury with the shot score being 60-40.

Chard led 3-1 at the half-way point but the wheels came off after tea when they lost all the remaining games. In the Milford and Dormor league Hurricanes beat Greyhounds 17-11.

Greyhounds have made a disappointing start to the season, having lost all three matches, but have two bowlers who are very inexperienced when it comes to the Short Mat form of the game.

Greyhounds are definitely adjusting, with the losing margin reducing with each match.

They won more ends than Hurricanes, albeit by narrow margins.

In the other league game Harlequins beat Magpies by 22-7.

Magpies were 7-3 up at one stage but then Harlequins found their form, taking the next end by four shots. Harlequins didn’t look back and took all the remaining ends.
