ILMINSTER men are through to the fourth round of the National Double Rink after a 41-31 shot win at Taunton BC.

Scores: Matt Hamilton, Bev Brister, Neil Rowe and Louis Ridout 25, J Emery 15; Paul Denslow, Jason Miles, Peter Mattravers and Mark Denslow 16, P Shaw 16.

The men had three Two Counties League matches last week starting on Monday at Somerton BC.

Ilminster won won overall 87-67. Scores: Des Maull, Roger Lench, John Wells and Barry Sims 27, R Porter 13; Roy Orme, Ken Parker, Peter Patmore and Rowland Garland 26, D Dodge 10; Eric Turner, Derek Carter, John Mitchell and John Osborne 18, C Wilcock 20; Eddie Hadfield, Bill Bailey, Eric Keitch and Rodney Parkin 16, A Hoad 24.

The second Two Counties match was at South Petherton with Ilminster losing 92-74 overall.

The Ladies played a two rink friendly at the same time. In a very close match Ilminster lost by just one shot.

The men’s third Two Counties match was played at Crewkerne on Saturday with Ilminster winning 76-67.

On Friday the Ladies were home to North Petherton B C in the Fear Cup.

Ilminster played extremely well to win all rinks and by 60 shots to 39. They now play Ashcombe Park of Weston super Mare in the quarter finals.
