A BUSY week at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club commenced with the Seniors’ match team entertaining the Seniors from Fosse Way.

In near perfect conditions, the Saints team overwhelmed their opposition, winning five of the six games.

Only two games went to the final hole, resulting in one win and one loss.

Barrie Heath & Alan Davis won by 5 & 4; John Twose & Nick Gabb won by 6 & 5; Roger Stone & Dave Mugridge won by 1 hole; John McOmish & Andy Beale lost by 1 hole; Ian Housham & Peter Spencer-Farr won by 8 & 6; Roger Davis & Barrie Singleton won by 6 & 4.

The main event on Wednesday was the Super Seniors Cup, which involved the 19 players over the age of 75.

Both Bryan Frost and Bob Barrow led the field with 38 points, but the honours went to Mick Aldridge, who returned a score one better.

Forty Seniors section members went to Budleigh Salterton on Thursday, for the Seniors Challenge Cup second round.

The players found the East Devon course very challenging, with no-one getting anywhere near par.

But there was an exciting finish, as three players all tied on the same score.

The adjudicator awarded first prize to Roger Stone, who had a better back nine.

The Seniors finished up on Friday, with the June monthly medal qualifier.

Three players managed to play a round under par, two from Division 1 and one from Division 2.

A tie ensued in Division 1, with captain Barrie Heath claiming first place over Martin Bargery.

The winner of Division 2 was Roger Withers, over Keith Branchflower.
