A BUSY week for the Seniors at Cricket St Thomas began on Monday when 45 players entered a three-man Texas scramble, played in cold and blustery conditions.

The scoring was restricted, with a mediocre 61 being the winning score.

On Wednesday, the Senior Saints team travelled to Weymouth.

The teams were evenly matched and the result was not known until the final pairing came in, where the Saints team lost on the final green, handing the win to Weymouth by 4-2.

The Seniors hosted their Clic Sargent Charity day on Thursday.

A fine day greeted 12 teams of eight men from clubs from the south of England in a fourball better ball.

The Dorset Golf & Country Club emerged easy winners with a combined score of 175 points.

At the formal dinner that followed, captain Barrie Heath thanked the organisers and was pleased to announce that a record amount of £2,044 had been raised for the charity.

Result: 1. The Dorset (175 points); 2. Oake Manor (167 points); 3. Enmore (162 points).

On Friday, the Saints Senior Somerset Bowl team travelled to Long Sutton to play Weston-super-Mare in the second round of the tournament.

Once again the opposition proved to be very strong, but after four games the scores were level, so the match hinged on the final pair, which was won by Weston who therefore won by 3-2.
