Former Somerset captain and coach Chris Rogers has joined Gloucestershire's coaching staff for the first two months of the 2018 campaign.

Rogers led Somerset to within a whisker of their first County Championship in 2016 before taking on a role as batting mentor for the first half of last season, but is not part of the new regime in Taunton and will instead be working on all areas of the game with Gloucestershire's 1st XI and development squads.

The news follows yesterday's announcement that Rogers has been appointed as Australia's new high-performance batting coach after impressing in youth mentoring roles.

Regarding his new role with Gloucestershire, Rogers said: “It is a great opportunity to work with a group of very talented players.

"There is a strong core of young batsmen at Gloucestershire and hopefully they can learn something from my time with them.”
