WITH all three fixtures postponed in the past week, Chard Town are now facing a congested end to the season, writes Colin Dunford.

The Robins are scheduled to host Ashton & Backwell in the Toolstation Western League First Division on Saturday (March 10, ko 3pm).

That will be followed by another home match, against Chippenham Park, the following Wednesday (March 14, ko 7.45pm).

Chard manager Paul Down said: "Fingers crossed our home match against Ashton & Backwell goes ahead this Saturday at Zembard Lane.

"Thankfully the Western League agreed to play our home game against Chippenham Park next Wednesday."

Down continued: "After training on Tuesday night I will have a clearer idea of availabilities and the illness situation, but I know that Octavio Lima is away in Portugal and is definitely missing.

"However, Jack Dicker is available, so hopefully it will be one in and one out from the last squad [to face Westbury United]."

Chard Reserves, meanwhile, visit neighbours Wellington Reserves in Macron Devon & Exeter League Division 1 on Saturday (ko 3pm).

LAST weekend saw yet another fixture cancelled due to the weather at Ilminster Town FC’s Archie Gooch Pavilion.

This time, it was the meeting of ‘the Beast from the East’ and Storm Emma, rather than a waterlogged pitch, which frustrated the Blues.

The latest in a run of home games for Ilminster sees them entertain fourth-in-the-table Frys Club this coming Saturday (ko 3pm).

With 14 league games left to play in a little over 10 weeks, it is going to be a hectic finish to the season.
