BOTH of Chard Rugby Club’s scheduled games last Saturday were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

The 1st XV were expected to host Devonport Services in Western Counties West, while the 2nds had an away fixture against Winscombe in Somerset 2 South.

Both fixtures have now been re-scheduled as follows: Chard v Devonport Services - Saturday, February 10 (ko 2.30pm); Winscombe 2nds v Chard 2nds - Saturday, February 24 (ko 2.30pm).

This Saturday (January 27) sees Chard 1sts make the long trip to Falmouth for a 2.30pm kick-off in Western Counties West.

The Cornish side are still in a battle to avoid the second relegation spot, with bottom club Burnham-on-Sea cut adrift and seemingly sunk.

It should be a battle royal with Chard safe and sound in mid-table and able to play with some freedom.

In Somerset 2 South, Chard 2nds entertain Somerton (ko 2.30pm), with the game to be played at Crewkerne Road if the main pitch is still wet.

The visitors are flying high and still in with a shout of promotion, while Chard should be safe with Martock and Tor floundering at the bottom of the division.

And Chard 3rds are set to go to Wyvern in Somerset 3 South (ko 2.30pm), and the game should be on (weather permitting) as Wyvern now only run one team.

It will be a tough day with Wyvern in second place and likely to be bolstered by their better club members.
