Almondsbury UWE 0, Chard Town 2

CHARD Town extended their unbeaten league run to six games on Saturday, with a 2-0 win at Almondsbury UWE.

In tough conditions, the Robins were given a golden opportunity to take the lead, as Jack Dicker was fouled in the penalty area - but James Boyland's spot-kick was poor and easily saved.

It was Boyland who eventually broke the deadlock, though, converting from Max Westlake's assist in the 66th minute.

Westlake scored himself six minutes later, finding the net after Boyland and Taoufik Ben Salem combined well, to seal the three points.

Manager Paul Down said: "It was another good performance on the road, on another tricky surface.

"We controlled the game after a fairly even first 25 minutes, and should have been ahead at half time, but converted the chances in the second half.

"The front two [James Boyland and Taoufik Ben Salem] combined very effectively, supported by the midfield.

"Max Westlake opened them up for the Boyland goal, and then converted after good work from Ben Salem and Boyland.

"Once again the back four gave us a solid base to work from."

This coming Saturday, the Robins - up to 14th place, and only three points off seventh - host basement club Portishead Town (ko 3pm).
