IT is all about cup football at Chard Town this weekend, with the first team visiting Cadbury Heath in the second round of the Les Phillips Cup tomorrow (ko 3pm), writes Colin Dunford.

The trip to Western League Premier Division side Cadbury Heath gives Chard manager Paul Down a chance to enjoy the challenge of playing another Premier outfit, having been beaten 5-1 by Wellington in the Somerset Premier Cup last week.

The boss was purring over last Saturday’s victory and the ‘double’ over Bristol Telephones, saying: “It was a good performance and win in difficult conditions.

“Both teams and referee Sam Fudge deserve credit for producing an entertaining game.”

It has been a week of comings and goings at Chard.

Brad Miles has decided to return to Ilminster and goes with manager Down’s best wishes for the future, while Pat Golden has decided to return to Chard, from Wincanton.

Striker Alex Stafie, whose goals have been vital so far, began a lengthy suspension on Monday, but Down looked on the positive side, with James Boyland starting to produce the form of last season and Steve Friend available once more.

Matt Howell is also back for the Cadbury trip.

Chard Reserves, meanwhile, host Mid Somerset League Division 1 side Chilcompton Sports Reserves in the third round of the Somerset Junior Cup (3pm).

Last weekend’s league trip to Lapford fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.

AS for Ilminster Town, they are back in league action after last weekend's cup win over Staplegrove.

Tomorrow sees them travel to face Clevedon United, who currently sit in second place in the Somerset County Premier League table, with a 2.30pm kick-off.

Ilminster Town Reserves are home at The Archie Gooch Pavilion against Awliscombe tomorrow, (ko 2.15pm).

And on Sunday, Ilminster Town Ladies host Buckland Athletic Ladies (2pm), having drawn 1-1 at Yeovil Town Ladies Intermediate last time out - Lucy Pitman with the Blues' goal.
