Somerset Senior Cup
Ilminster Town 1, Worle 3

AN experienced Worle side were the visitors for this cup tie, writes Andy Fish.

The visitors dominated the first five minutes with tidy build-up play, but slowly Ilminster took a foot hold in the match and, on eight minutes, Luke Paul put in a great cross that a stretching Charlie Rutter hit just over the bar.

Jon May then saw a good shot well saved before Town made their pressure pay when Taylor Jefferson finished in style for his fifth goal of the season.

Worle rallied and dominated the last 15 minutes of the first half and equalised with a goal off the training pitch as a long throw was well headed in.

The visitors took the lead after the break as a first-time cross was met by the onrushing striker.

Ilminster tried hard to come back with Karl Davies causing problems, but it was Worle who scored next when a midfielder caught Chris May in no man’s land and scored from 30 yards.

Worle deserved their win, but the young Blues will learn from the experience.
