THE Cricket St Thomas Golf Club Seniors resumed their season last Tuesday, when 29 competitors entered the July qualifying stableford event.

With near perfect conditions, the scoring was excellent in Division 1, the leaders all amassing 40+ points.

Division 2 competitors found life more difficult, with one exception – new man Michael Everton achieving an unrivalled 47 points.

Results
Division 1 - 1. Ian Housham (43 pts); 2. George Wallace (42 pts); 3. Terry Rutherford (40 pts)
Division 2 - 1. Michael Everton (47 pts); 2. Andy Beale (36 pts) 3. Peter Harris (35 pts)

The Saints Senior match team travelled to Sidmouth on Thursday, with Barrie Heath acting as captain in the absence of Roger Stone.

The portends were not good, after the first two pairings lost their games.

However, two wins from the following three games meant that the result rested with the final game.

This went to the 18th green, but the Saints pair could only half the game, so Sidmouth triumphed, 3½-2½.

Results
Barrie Heath & Paul England lost 4&3; Ian Griffiths & Dave Mugridge lost 4&2; Chris Gingell & Lindsey Gage won by 1 hole; John Wandless & Nobby Hodder lost 4&3; George Wallace & Barrie Singleton won by 2 holes; John McOmish & Roger Davis halved

The Ladies section played a Ping competition at Cricket St Thomas.

Among the highlights was a rare hole-in-one by Barbara Shaw, from Ilminster, on the par-three ninth hole.

This was her second ace, but the first at Cricket St Thomas (where she has played for many years), and the ladies celebrated her success as the wine flowed in the clubhouse.
