HOLYROOD Academy students were lucky enough to earn a visit from former England cricket captain Charlotte Edwards on Monday (July 3).
As a result of their hard work and success in this year’s indoor and outdoor cricket season, Somerset Cricket Board chose to take Edwards to Holyrood to run a coaching session and meet the Under-13 and Under-15 girls’ cricket squads.
Holyrood’s head of cricket, Shannon Sims, said: “What a brilliant opportunity for the girls to learn from one of the best.
“Having been to watch a World Cup game at Taunton last week, the girls were excited to ask Charlotte questions about her career and the women’s game.
“Most of the girls also play cricket outside of school, and the visit has shown them what it takes to make a career out of sport if they continue to be dedicated and confident.”
