FORTY members of the senior section at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club played a 4BBB event on Monday.

In benign conditions, the teams enjoyed the run of the ball and receptive greens to return decent scores – in an exciting finish, three teams tied for the lead with the result being calculated on the best back 9.

Result: 1. Ray Gudge & Martyn Putland - 44 pts; 2. Ted Bryden & Martin Leigh - 44 pts; 3. Brian Hodder & James Siabi - 44 pts.

Meanwhile, the Saints senior match team hosted the Fosse Way seniors, hoping to reverse the away result.

After three games, the scores were level, but three further wins for the home side sealed victory by 4½-1½.

Result: Roger Stone & Mike Aldridge won 5 & 4; Andy Beale & Mike King lost 4 & 3; Roger Davis & Alan Davis halved; John Wandless & John McOmish won 5 & 3; George Wallace & Keith Potter won 4 & 2; Nobby Hodder & Barrie Singleton won 5 & 3.

The Seniors held the annual Memorial Bowl trophy on Wednesday in remembrance of the seniors who have passed away, with 63 members in 21 teams for a 2 from 3 stableford format.

In appalling conditions, the scoring was poor but the winning team, led by Keith Branchflower, scored 80 points.

Result: 1. Keith Branchflower; Chris Gingell & Chris Basterfield - 80 pts; 2. George Wallace; George Willerton & Bob Hollingsworth - 78 pts; 3. Bob Barrow; John McOmish & Nobby Hodder - 77 pts.

On Friday, the Seniors held the final of the Challenge Cup.

In improved conditions, Nick Clarke beat 11 rivals to the trophy with a fine round of 43 points, with John Evans just one point behind.

In the Plate competition, Alan Davis outscored his 25 opponents, returning a score of 39, with Alan Moffatt just three behind to claim runner up.
