THE Ilminster & District Skittles League has held its Division 1 and Division 2 presentation evenings recently, as well as singles and pairs competitions.

The Flying Turkeys took the Division 1 honours, with the Flying Turkey Allstars as runners-up, and they were presented with the silverware at the Eagle Tavern.

The prize for the highest individual score in Division 1 was presented to Josh Manley of the Flying Turkeys Allstars.

That evening also saw the Jack Trott singles competition, where a player from each team plays one another, take place.

This year’s winner was league president Neil Dopson of the Ashill Inn side, scoring 62.

Simon Whaites of the Royal Oak Faces was second with 53, and Hatch Beagles’ Guy Dibble came a close third with 52.

THE following week saw the Division 2 presentation evening held at the King’s Head, Merriott.

The Gooch Trophy, which dates back to 1974, went to Division 2 champions Bell Broadway, who along with runners-up Royal Oak Faces will be in Division 1 next season.

The highest Division 2 individual score went to Floaters’ Brad Miles.

The evening also a pairs nomination competition for The Brian Hooper Memorial Shield.

Congratulations go to Cricketers pairing of Nick ‘Farmer’ Matravers and Mike Rowley, who scored 54, including a 17 spare.

Runners-up were the Floaters pair of Mike Bond and Richard Priddle with 51, while Crusaders Luke Dopson and Adrian Sims came third with 50. 

Next week sees the Nomination cup final between the Cricketers and Flying Turkeys Allstars at the Wyndham Arms – all are welcome for an 8.45pm start.
