ILMINSTER bowlers have held their 2017 green opening and members enjoyed the traditional spider followed by a five-rink triples competition.

The first woods were delivered by Norma Pugh (ladies’ captain) and Dave Crouch (men’s captain).

The Indoor presentation evening was held on April 27 with guests Sally Lowe and Gerald Creech, from Milford and Dormor, presenting the trophies.

The stewards, Jo and Drew, provided a superb buffet to finish the evening.

A men’s three-rink friendly was held on Friday against North Petherton with the home team winning two rinks, losing one and winning overall by 19 shots, 67-48.

Sunday saw Feniton the visitors in a four-rink friendly.

On an ideal sunny afternoon, a friendly and competitive match was won by the visitors by three rinks to one, 89-58.
