A SQUAD of 35 swimmers represented Chard Swimming Club in the final round of the Western Division National Swimming League at Millfield School.

Chard fought another tough round against several larger south-west clubs, and achieved seventh place overall with some good times from solid swimming by the team.

The team gained another 25 personal best times and 12 top three positions in the 50 events.

Special mention goes to Jamie Pullinger, 18, who achieved the club’s Gold Speed Badge for swimming 50m freestyle in under 27 seconds.

Seven swimmers achieved Individual top three places:
- Open: Hannah Pullinger, 20, 3rd 100m freestyle;
- 15/Under: Henry Taswell, 15, 1st 100m backstroke and 2nd 100m butterfly; Xanthe Dyer, 14, 3rd 100m breaststroke; Leo Kindred, 15, 3rd 100m breaststroke;
- 13/Under: Milie Downes, 13, 3rd 100m backstroke and 3rd 100m freestyle;
- 11/Under: Grace Lambert, 11, 1st 50m breaststroke and 1st 50m butterfly; Mia Porter, 11, 3rd 50m backstroke;

The Relay Teams also showed some determined swimming, with two top three positions achieved by the 9-11 years Girls Medley team of Esme Huntley, Mia Porter, Grace Lambert and Alice Clark (1st place) and the 13 and under Girls Medley team of Mia Huntley, Briana Barrand, Abi Greenslade and Millie Downes (3rd place).

The club thanked all the swimmers for their determined swimming, and the club coaches, officials, team managers and time-keepers.

Swimmers of the Month are Louis Rood, 13, and Kaitlyn Flannigan, 10, for gaining the most improvement points in recent galas.
