Chard Town Res 3 Heavitree Utd 0
RESERVE manager Stu Parris must have gained some satisfaction from this as in September, Heavitree had beaten Chard 10-1 in the reverse league encounter and, a week later, again in Exeter, Heavitree won 2-1 in the East Devon Senior Cup.
Chard led 2-0 at the break with a Liam Riste penalty and Oscar Latas netting in a one-on-one with the keeper.
In the second half, Chard soaked up the pressure and aimed to catch their opponents on the counter, which Riste did by adding a third.
Chard: L Sparks, D Hardy, S Loader, K Bailey, L Jackson, J Bailey, D Aplin, B Mear, O Latas, L Riste, A Tovey. Subs (both used): A Anjos, B Marsden.
Chard Reserves will be looking for three more points on Saturday, when they entertain Clyst Valley in the Premier Division of the Devon and Exeter League (ko 3pm).
The U18s, who were due to play Taunton Town earlier this week, have two weeks off as scheduled opponents Gillingham Town have withdrawn from the Somerset Floodlight Youth League.
Chard had not yet met Gillingham this season.
Chard Reserves have been drawn away to Budleigh Salterton in the preliminary round of the Axminster Hospital Cup on a date to be arranged.
The winners will be at home in the semi-finals to Seaton Town.
The other semi-final will be Axminster Town v Sidmouth.
