CHARD Sunday ladies finished second in a seven-a-side tournament at Blandford despite beating the overall winners.
Chard began with a match against the hosts on a cold, crisp morning.
They dominated the first ten minutes and Rachel Ireland-Jones got two goals to put them in the lead.
But with injuries disrupting the flow, Blandford and Stur-minster were able to pull level and when goalie Lou Bentley narrowly missed saving a penalty they won 3-2.
The next match against Wincanton was evenly contested and finished 0-0.
By the time Chard faced tournament winners Bruton in their final game Chard had hit their stride.
They won the match 4-1 with Ros Clemmans and Lois But-cher both scoring twice. Chard: Lou Bentley, Emma Cridland, Sue Stoker, Rosie Winch, Michelle Allen, Rachel Ireland-Jones, Lois Butcher and Ros Clemmans. Umpire: Vince Sharpe.
