CHARD Ladies lost 2-1 at home to Taw Valley 2nds under the new leadership of Hannah McGown.

Despite a loss of several players to injury, Chard were feeling confident following their 2-2 draw away to Taw early in the season.

Unfortunately for them it was Taw who took the lead despite valiant efforts from Chard's defence.

Chard continued to battle on with some excellent plays down the wing from Maya Preston on the left and Amy Goss down the right.

And centre Rachel Ireland-Jones made up for her mini goal drought by expertly lifting the ball past Taw's keeper and into the net to leave the half time score 1-1.

Chard looked like they were going to take the lead with several chances on goal throughout the second half but were never able to put that finishing touch on the ball.

Instead it was instead Taw who stole the victory with a goal in the later stages.

Joint players of the match were Emma Wyatt and Rachel Ireland-Jones Umpires: Chris Long and Max Beale.

Chard: Hannah McGown (captain), Amy Goss (Vice-Captain), Anna Dewick, Lorraine Szczepanski, Emma Cridland, Emma Wyatt, Kayley Gollop, Maya Preston, Melanie Holmes, Rachel Ireland-Jones, Michelle Allen & Natalie Wainwright.
