TWO second-half goals from Bertie Squires secured a 4-1 victory over Isca in South East 1 of the Davis Wood league.

Chard started the game well and through a spell of early pressure were awarded a short corner.

Brendan Viggers calmly converted, driving the ball into the bottom left corner.

Chard continued to apply pressure and following some great passing from Liam Murphy and Squires the ball fell for Dom Balian who ran into the D and put a great reverse stick shot under the diving keeper. Isca did not give up and soon pulled one back.

They were also awarded a short corner but found Richard Green – who made some excellent saves – on top form in the Chard goal and made some great saves.

Chard came out for the second half knowing the game was far from safe and a couple more goals were needed to put the game out of Isca’s reach.

The midfield of Viggers, Balian and Fraser Louis controlled the game well, closing any threats down early and feeding the ball to the wingers as well as forwards Squires and Murphy.

Chard’s third goal came from a great ball into the D from Murphy. Squires calmly controlled it, turned, and put the ball through the keeper’s legs.

Chard’s fourth and final goal came from Squires again. He went on a mazy run in the D and put a reverse stick swipe straight past the keeper.
