CHARD Sunday Ladies lost 6-2 at Blandford and Sturminster yesterday Chard took a while to settle at the start of the match and this allowed the more experienced home team to put away five goals in quick succession.

It says a lot about Chard’s resilience and team spirit that they then dug in to make the game a more evenly contested affair.

Good attacking play from the forward line saw Lydia Harris latch on to a Charlotte Mooney cross to score Chard’s first goal and make the half time tally 5-1.

Chard looked a far more cohesive side in the second half and when Mooney got their second goal you felt they could easily have closed the gap.

It would be difficult to pick out individual players as the second half was a real team effort and it was only right at the end that Blandford were able to add their final goal.

Chard: Sue Stoker, Emma Wyatt, Emma Cridland, Tess Burrows, Hannah Billing, Bella Balian, Isobel Harding, Ros Clemmans, Sasha and Misha Taylor and scorers Lydia Harris and Charlotte Mooney.
