CHARD B won 4-3 at Taunton CS in South East 3 of the Davis Wood league.
The fixture was evenly contested throughout the game with the home side’s better teamwork making it difficult for Chard to compete.
Taunton started well, restricting Chard to long-range passes which were easily intercepted.
The home side eventually found a way through, resulting in a two-on-one which was easily converted.
However Chard quickly replied when Steve Dare scored an equaliser from a penalty corner.
The game lost its flow as the umpire adjudged a number of infringements worthy of penalty corners and the home side eventually made it 2-1.
Chard responded with a driving run by Kevin Mooney who found Adam Veitch in space to level things up.
But another penalty corner just before half time gave Civil Service a 3-2 lead.
The second half was better for Chard as their organisation was more structured and they forced a number of penalty corners themselves.
After one effort was disallowed, Dare eventually found a clean strike to equalise.
Good running in midfield by Nathan Johnson helped set up interplay with the forwards which tested the home defence.
Civil Service were reliant on quick breaks and pushed hard to score a winner, but in the dying minutes Durgan Cooper found Veitch who fired home the winner.
