SOMERSET CCC have signed Pakistani slow left-arm bowler Abdur Rehman as their overseas player for the whole of the 2015 season.

The 34-year-old is no stranger to the County Ground after he captured 27 wickets at an average of 14.19, including a best of 9-65, in four LV= County Championship matches in the latter part of the 2012 season.

In addition he claimed nine wickets at an average of 8.11 in the three List A matches he played for Somerset.

Rehman is vastly experienced at all levels and in all formats of the game and has appeared in 22 Test Matches - in which he has taken 99 wickets - 31 One Day Internationals and eight T20 Internationals for Pakistan.

In all First Class cricket he has played in 136 matches, taking 512 wickets at an average of 25.99.

In List A cricket Rehman has played in 139 matches and captured 201 wickets at 26.18 while in T20 he has appeared in 62 matches and claimed 66 wickets at 22.19.

Rehman said: “I am very happy to be going back to play for Somerset. I hugely enjoyed my time at the County Ground two years ago and I look forward to playing for the County again for the whole of this coming season.”

Matt Maynard, the Somerset Director of Cricket, said: “Abdur Rehman is a really good signing for us. He is a quality spin bowler and will hopefully help us to turn some of those draws into victories.

“Abdur will be coming back into an environment he is familiar with and playing alongside team-mates who he knows from the time he spent here a few years ago.

Maynard added: ”He is also a more than useful lower order batsman, a terrier in the field and is available in all three formats all season. He's a quality all round cricketer for us to sign."
