FIVE female members of Chard Road Runners joined a field of 10,000 taking part in the Bristol Half Marathon.

The first Runner across the line was Stephanie Genge with an excellent time just over the two hour mark.

Mel Boarder knocked a minute off last year’s time while Vicky Musselwhile gave her a good chase to the line to knock two minutes off her 2013 mark.

Peppa Quinlan, running only her second half marathon, took ten minutes off her time while Danielle Grinter also pushed herself all the way. Results: Stephanie Genge, 4,463rd (2h 00m 06s); Melanie Boarder 7,087th, (2h 26m 53s); Vicky Musselwhite 7,088th, (2h 26m 54s); Peppa Quinlan 7,795th (2hr 49m 31s); Danielle Grinter 7,970th (3hr 17m 45s).

Another group of the club’s lady runners set off from Chard to run across country to Lyme Regis.

They took in the sights around Forde Abbey, Thorncoombe, Lamberts Castle and Wotten Fitzpayne before finishing in the sea.

WAYNE Loveridge and Neil Plumridge decided to test their all-round pedigree by taking part in the Langport triathlon.

This popular 400m swim, 22.5 km cycle and a 5k run event saw Loveridge finish 15th out of 354 in 1hr 09m 49s.

Plumridge also performed well, coming 77th in 1hr 21m 42s.
