CHAMPIONS North Perrott began celebrating too early when they were bowled out for just 46 in Division 1 on Saturday.

There were seven ducks in the card as Middlezoy’s mercurial Nathan Barnard routed the Perrott batting, taking 7-12.

Only J. Marshall-James achieved double figures before being out for 19 and J. England registered nine in an inexplicable collapse.

Middlezoy romped home without losing a wicket to complete a dismal day for Perrott.

Bottom club Ilton suffered a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of North Curry.

Ilton had D. Brunt (31), N. Augur (44) and D.

Price (44) in the runs as they reached 166 all out.

Curry’s reply was led by M. Banham who was unbeaten on 62 and G. Bradstock added 40 to make sure of victory.

In Division 2, mid-table Barrington were beaten by six wickets at Cheddar.

Barrington batted first and were indebted to T. Towill, who hit a fine 63. He received support from M. Jennings (28) as Barrington reached 165 all out.

R. Panes (83) and S. Harris (50) led the Chedar reply and they came home with six wickets in hand.

North Perrott 2nds went past 200 and still lost in their Division 3 match against Street.

Perrott’s D. Barnes top-scored with 56, while J. Ireland (28), J. Marshall-James (snr) (25) and J. Hopper (26) made useful contributions.

But a fine stand by O. Frost (53) and S. Frost (54no) paved the way for victory for Street 2nds, who came home with three wickets remaining.

Best of the Perrott bowlers was R. Hyett, who took 4-47 in 12 overs.

Struggling South Petherton gave themselves hope of survival in Division 4 with an emphatic win over Staplegrove 2nds.

Staplegrove could reach only 141 as I. Lukins took 5-38 and N. Boulton 2-21.

Lukins (20), P. Acreman (34), P. Newton (24no) and N. Boulton (28) all made solid contributions as South Petherton won by seven wickets.

In Division 7, third-placed Crewkerne beat Burnham 2nds by nine wickets after Burnham could only reach 86-8.

Tight bowling from R. Keylock (3-11) off 12 and R. James (3-30) restricted Burnham and set up the welcome victory.

Opener A. Lawrence led the charge with a fine, unbeaten 55, while J. Gould (19no) gave solid support as Crewkerne came home having lost only one wicket.

Chard A could only reach 80 as Taunton St Andrew’s A’s bowlers had a field day.

Veteran tweaker Martin Baldock took a fine 5- 14 as Chard collapsed.

The Saints reply stuttered throughout as F.

Lewis (2-33) tried to save the day but and unbeaten 30 from S. Weetch saw the Saints home.

Promotion hopefuls Barrington 2nds did themselves a power of good as they raced to a seven-wicket win against Kilmington & Stourton 2nds in Division 8N.

Kilmington could reach only 105-9 in the face of K. Hastings 5-43 off 12 overs.

Barrington’s reply was led by M. Watts (41) and A. Pitman (46no) who saw them home with ease.

South Petherton 2nds were well beaten by division leaders Evercreech who reached 303-8.

They had four players in the 40s and D. Wood top scored with 57 as they reached their big total, with T. Davis (4-55) being the pick of the bowlers.

Petherton’s batsmen battled in vein withsix batsmen reaching double figures, T. Davis top scoring with 28.

North Perrott 3rds slumped to a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Westlands 3rds.

Perrott were all out for 72 as only J. Kingaby (23) offered any real resistance.

Westlands’ reply was short and sweet as C.

White scored a fine unbeaten 52.

In Division 9SE, mid-table Broadway & Horton 2nds were beaten by seven wickets by Trull 2nds.

The feature of Broadway’s innings was a fine 72 by opener D. Lowman as his side closed on 167-8.

Trull’s openers P. Morrish (55no) and M.

Kearley (44) set the victory up with Broadway’s bowling having a tough day.

Ilton 2nds gained only their second victory of the season, beating Huish & Langport 3rds by 90 runs.

Ilton open D. Dibb was in sparkling form, hitting 82 in a total of 165-8.

Huish’s reply never got going as H. Mitchell took 4-30 and B. Isaacs, J. Phillips and B. Venn took two apiece as the innings closed on 75 all out.
