ILMINSTER Town manager Darren Manley says the depth of his squad will be severely tested over the next two weeks as the Blues face the challenge of six games in just 14 days.

Manley’s side are still fighting for survival in Somerset County Premier and currently find themselves one point from safety, but with three games in hand on the teams around them.

A 4-1 victory over Yatton on Monday has given their cause a huge boost – but the manager believes they must take points off some of the top sides if they are to survive.

He said: “We’ve got a big task coming up, with six games in two weeks, so that is going to really test the depth of our squad – it’s going to be tough.

“I think we’ve got to take at least a point from some of the teams at the top and beat the teams around us, so it’s still in our hands.

On Saturday the Blues lost 3-1 to Cutters Friday.

Manley added: “We played really well on both Saturday and Monday to be honest – Cutters are a good side and they have some really good attacking players, but I thought we did well.

“Chris Nezianya got injured and that took the wind out of our sails a bit, but we did well.

“Monday we played really, really well and scored some good goals and controlled the game. It’s a good result for us and the other results in the league weren’t too bad for us either.

“We scored early on but they equalised pretty much straight away. We got a second just before half-time and we were on top from there."

Goals from Ashley Lock, Jonny May, Lewis Gilman and Charlie Rutter sealed a vital three points.

Today Ilminster host Watchet Town (3pm).
