HOLYROOD Academy’s feeder primary schools took part in a tag tournament last Wednesday.
The competition was hosted by Chard Rugby Club with the action taking place on the main pitch and officiated by Holyrood students alongside Chard coaches.
A total of 12 teams – totally nearly 100 children in all – contested the event. The numbers taking part made for a great spectacle which was supported by a large crowd of friends and family.
The winners in the Year 5-6 event were Redstart, with Neroche second.
Both teams now represent the Holyrood cluster at the South Somerset finals being held at Castle Cary Rugby Club tomorrow (Thursday).
Schools taking part were Ashill, Avishayes, Buckland, Chard, Combe, Manor Court, Neroche, Redstart and Tatworth.
School sports co-ordinator Jason Hedaux said: “I would like to thank Chard Rugby Club for their enthusiasm and hospitality and welcome the links made between schools and community clubs.
“These links greatly help schools to deliver the competitive nature of sport for our children.”
