CHARD A beat North Devon A 6-1 in South East 2 of the Davis Wood league on Saturday.
They scored within three minutes following a move from one end of the pitch to the other involving Alex Maggs and Gareth Eggle which was well finished by Dan Stone.
A brilliant double save by Burge Balian kept the scores level at a crucial stage.
Alex Maggs soon grabbed a second with a thunderous shot before Stone completed his almost inevitable hat- trick with goals either side of half time to put the result beyond the visitors from Barnstaple.
Stone’s hat-trick goal typified his prowess in front of goal this season with a cheeky piece of improvisation to flick in a deflected Ireland-Jones cross.
After North Devon pulled one back Alex Magg’s younger sibling, Maximillian, latched on to a loose ball to restore their four goal advantage, and hard working veteran Eggle completed the rout.
Chard: Balian, Lury, Tratt, Mahoney, Ireland-Jones, A Maggs, M Maggs, J Spurdle, G Eggle, M Wheaton, G Wheaton, Goss, Stone, Alex. Umpires: Hannah McGowan and Alan Cheffey.
