TAUNTON racegoers are set for another afternoon’s excitement tomorrow when the Orchard Portman course stages its first ever Saturday meeting.

There is a seven race card and 68 horses declared, including runners from top trainers Paul Nicholls,Venetia Williams, Colin Tizzard and Philip Hobbs.

The first race is set to go to post at 12.30pm. A large crowd is expected and with the gates opening at 10.30am the advice from the course is to leave in plenty of time.

A courtesy bus departs from Taunton Railway Station an hour before the first race, picking up from the bus station on Castle Green soon after and returning from the course 30 minutes after the final action.

As a precautionary measure Taunton Racecourse will hold a 7.30am inspection tomorrow morning.
