ILMINSTER’S Gerry Morris, Andy Williams, Rowland Garland and Lawrence Symes are through to the third round of the national Over-60s fours.

In their second round battle with K Uglow of Weston St Andrews they emerged winners by 21-16.

Morris and Symes are also progressing nicely in the Over-60s pairs.

They booked a place in the fourth round with a 24 -14 defeat of D Burch from Taunton Deane BC.

The Ladies were also in action in the Masons Trophy against Taunton Deane B, winning on both rinks for an overall score of 51-26. They now play Thornbury BC in the next round.

The Monday mixed league has Barry Sims in the lead by three points over Roger Brown.

In the Monday evening St Austell Brewery-sponsored Premier Men’s league Kevin Hamilton has a four point lead over Peter Mattravers but has played one match more.

The Wednesday evening league is developing into dogfight for top spot with just two points separating four teams.

Rex Corbett’s winning run in the Thursday pairs has ended with Sarah Lightfoot ahead by one point. However Corbett still has a game in hand.

Will Anderson still leads the way by two points from Bev Brister in the Milford and Dormor Friday night mixed Triples.

The second half of the season should see some very competitive bowling.
