FINE weather attracted 45 Windwhistle Seniors to a Bowmaker tournament last Monday.

In such favourable conditions, some heavy scoring was expected, and this proved to be the case as three teams passed the 80 mark.

Ted Bryden’s trio were the outright winners with a score of 87 while two sides battled for second spot.

Fred Oliver’s team eventually claimed that honour by beating Dave Passmore's trio by a single point.

Result: 1 Ted Bryden, Richard Forster & Ron Sutherland 87pts; 2 Fred Oliver, George Willerton & Richard Hall 82pts; 3 Dave Passmore, Keith Potter & Tony Stenhouse 81pts.

In benign conditions on Wednesday, 42 members competed in a variation of a Bowmaker competition whereby all three members of the team had to register scores on the par 3s and only one members on the par 5s.

Once again, the friendly course made for some high scores and in a tight finish, Bob White’s team triumphed by a single point over the side led by Brian Anderson.

Result: 1 Bob White, Norman Markby & Mick Aldridge 85pts; 2 Brian Anderson, Richard Hall & Ron Sutherland 84pts; 3 Geoff Dean, John Wallis & Maurice Arnold 80pts.

Excellent conditions again on Friday saw 48 members enter the 4Ball Better Ball competition.

This reflected on the excellent scoring whereby 14 of the 24 teams returned scores over 40.

Four teams battled for third place, all finishing with 44 points. After adjudication in the clubhouse, this was awarded to John Wallace and Brian Anderson.

Just one point in front, second place was claimed by Captain Alan Davis and Geoff Dean.

However, the outright winners by a massive margin and with a record score of 51 were Barrie Heath and Keith Branchflower.
