THE Friends Life t20 comes to town this weekend when Somerset start their 2013 campaign against Gloucestershire on Friday and then entertain Northants on Sunday (2.30pm).

Somerset won the T20 trophy in 2005, since when they have appeared in the last four Finals Days but left each empty handed. So is this going to be the year that the Cidermen finally cross that winning line?

Skipper Marcus Trescothick said: “I hope so, it’s well known what has happened over the previous seasons but we have worked hard to try and put it right and go that one step further.

“We are very aware of what has happened and will continue to do some good things and hopefully come out on top this year.”

Alfonso Thomas said: “It’s always a good game and we have just heard that it’s a sell- out on Friday so the County Ground will be buzzing and if you are not up for that game then you won’t be up for any game.”

Local boy, Jos Buttler who has just returned from England duty said: “It’s great to be playing in the local derby match in front of a sell-out crowd and we will be hoping to get the 2013 competition off to a good start.

“It’s going to be a big match atmosphere and I am very much looking forward to it.”

After the weekend it’s back to red ball action for Somerset when they host Sussex in a championship game starting on Monday.
