THE Somerset Visually Impaired Cricket Club, formed two years ago, celebrated their successful 2012 season when they were presented with the Southern Development League trophy at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
Last summer the SVICC took part in the inaugural Southern Development League and even though the weather did its best to spoil things Somerset topped the table.
The team also competed in a ten overs per side weekend in Leicester where they played seven matches, winning all but two to finish in third place in the tournament.
The club was also given a special mention for the Spirit of Cricket award and Vice Captain Rob Crisp picked up the Player of the Tournament award.
This season two new teams have been added to the Southern Development League so it promises to be an exciting and challenging for the team as they seek to defend their crown.
Somerset VICC will also be entering both the BBS Primary Club Cup (a 30 over competition) and the Development T20 Cup so there is plenty of anticipation ahead at the club.
