SWANMEAD Community School in Ilminster has shown its pupils know their ABCs after finishing first in The Times Spelling Bee heats in Exeter last week.
The team of Megan Bessell, Stephen Morgan, Natasha Woolacott and Genevieve Lewis, all 13, saw off competition from eight other schools in the area to take first place.
They now go through to the semi-finals in May in a bid to become one of the ten who make it through to the London finals later this year.
