NEW nursery First Friends will open at Neroche Primary School on Tuesday, November 7, Somerset County Council has announced.
An official opening ceremony will be held at 3pm, attended by Gemma Verdon, junior member for children and county councillor Linda Piggott-Vijey.
The new nursery in Broadway, Ilminster, is the result of one of six successful bids from the council to the Department for Education to support the introduction of the new 30 hours’ free childcare offer for working parents in the county.
Connel Boyle, headteacher at Neroche School, said: “Neroche School’s Ilminster and village communities are over the moon.
“As a ‘new age’ two-eleven primary school, we now have the opportunities to work together with children and families before they start ‘big’ school. Our dedicated teachers and early years key-workers are already making a positive difference to the lives of families. Our partnership with the council has been crucial in developing this facility.”
