THE A358 was closed for more than an hour after a crash between two cars and an oil spillage.

One fire engine was initially called to reports of a petrol spill following a crash shortly after 5pm on Donyatt Hill near Ilminster yesterday (June 19).

On arrival at the scene crews reported a two vehicle crash, and they requested a further appliance from Chard to be mobilised for manpower.

Three casualties were looked after and given first aid by fire personnel while ambulance crews attended to another casualty.  An additional ambulance was also requested to attend.

Fire crews used environment packs for the petrol spillage and made the scene safe.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said they were also called to the scene shortly after 5pm.

They said crash was between a Nissan car and a BMW car. The road was completely blocked by the incident, and reopened shortly after 6.30pm.
