A MAN who allegedly assaulted his partner outside a Barrington pub after they had gone there for a night out has appeared before a domestic violence court in Yeovil.
Michael John Bygrave went to the Royal Oak public house and after an argument broke out between the couple on the premises, they were said to have gone outside, the court was told.
Prosecutor Joanne Pearce told the court the defendant was then alleged to have punched the victim in her stomach making her double-up in pain.
However, she didn’t receive any injuries.
Bygrave, 29, formerly of Ilminster but currently living in Diana Gardens, Bradley Stoke, appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.
He pleaded not guilty to a charge that he assaulted his partner by beating her during the incident at Barrington on August 14.
A pre trial review was conducted and the matter was adjourned until October 10 when a trial will take place at the same court.
Until his next court appearance Bygrave was released on conditional bail on the understanding he does not go to Ilminster.
