BRIDGWATER-based actor Eltjo de Vries takes centre stage in the one man play Defender of The Dead in South Petherton.
He will be playing the role of Zac in the comedy, written by Sian Williams and directed by Anne Pearson – both founders of Boiling Kettle Theatre Company.
Set in December 2011 (with Christmas and the Winter Solstice approaching, and the Summer Olympics taking place in London soon after) Zac – a retired British Army NCO now living near Salisbury with his beloved wife and children – has set up a security company and won a contract to protect a sensitive archaeological site near Stonehenge.
The site is the object of a very British punch-up over politics, money, land and heritage, history and weird religious cults.
Should be no problem for a man who helped to sort out Northern Ireland and The Balkans – if only they’d do things the Army way.
Defender of the Dead comes to the David Hall, South Petherton, on Saturday, September 24. For more details and to book tickets, costing £9, call 01460 240340. or visit www.thedavidhall.org.uk.
