A crash involving three vehicles has left two cars with 'considerable damage' and the police appealing for witnesses.

Police made the public appeal earlier today following the crash, which took place in Church Street, Hinton St George on Sunday.

In the incident, which happened at around 5pm, a vehicle towing a trailer containing red agricultural machinery, closely followed by a small light coloured van, hit both a VW and the BMW causing considerable damage but failed to stop and leave details.

PC Thomas Osbourne, from Chard Police Station, said; “I understand that the road does become very tight due to parked vehicles but the driver should have stopped left details or made contact with the owners as soon as they possibly could.

"I would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident or indeed if you think you were the driver who may have done the damage. You can contact me, PC 4917 Osborne, at Chard Police Station on the 101 number.”
