A HINTON St George farmer is celebrating after winning a gold and silver award at this year’s Taste of the West awards.
Hinton Harvest, owned by Dawn Quince, was given the prestigious gold accolade after judges were wowed by the salad leaves she produces at the company.
However, the farm does not just produce the leaves: free-range chickens and guinea fowl are also reared there.
Speaking after the award, Ms Quince said she was delighted.
She said: “I am absolutely thrilled to receive these awards – getting gold for our salad leaves is amazing and makes all the hard work justified.
“I grow all the leaves without any herbicides or pesticides and they are a lovely mix of coloured and spotted lettuces, Chinese greens, nasturtium leaves and edible flowers and quite a few other interesting leaves."
The business also received a silver award for its slow-grown free-range orchard guinea fowl that enjoy life underneath all the fruit trees on the farm.
