A WOMAN accused of three offences of shoplifting from the same shop in South Petherton denied the allegations saying she had absolutely no memory of committing them.

Kay Rose Raybould, 33 of Hillview Terrace, Bower Hinton, appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.

She was charged with stealing confectionery, dog food and other groceries worth £25 from the Co-op in South Petherton on November 12.

She was also alleged to have stolen two packs of steak and two packs of cheese worth £15 on November 12 and four boxes of confectionery worth £4 from the Co-op in South Petherton on November 16.

The defendant denied all three shoplifting allegations but admitted a fourth offence of using a vehicle without insurance on November 16.

Defending solicitor Ray Peters said that his client was quite clear that while she did not dispute that it was her caught on CCTV taking the items she had no memory of doing so, blaming it on prescribed medication she was taking for mental health problems.

She will stand trial on February 29.
